The Kennebunk Dog Park Steering Committee met this past week for the first time this year. Here are a few updates you may be interested in:

Spring Clean-Up - Sunday, May 2nd at 4:00pm

Please stop by the park if you can spare a half hour, hour or more to help clean up debris, dog waste, work on the flower gardens, spread wood chips, etc. If you use the park on a regular basis, it's a nice way to give back.

Fundraising Bricks Installation - Sunday, May 2nd at 4:00pm

The park is ready to install the first batch of engraved bricks! The bricks will be installed in the entrance area of the park for all to see. Bricks are available for purchase through The Animal Welfare Society in West Kennebunk and proceeds from brick sales are used for the ongoing maintenance of the park. If you have ever visited the the Kennebunk Dog Park, you know it is a wonderful part of Southern Maine's dog community. Dog owners from all over the region use the dog park to socialize and exercise their dogs during all seasons of the year.

What you may not know is the park is supported solely by donations and fundraising activities organized by volunteers. Funds raised are used to maintain the park and to make park improvements.

The Kennebunk Dog Park committee recently announced the opportunity to purchase engraveable bricks which will be installed at the entrance of the park. A dedication ceremony will be held at the park in the spring to celebrate the installation of bricks sold.

Brick inscriptions begin with a gift of $75.00 and can be given anytime throughout the year. The 3.5"x8" bricks can be imprinted with three lines of up to 20 characters per line. A sample brick and order forms/instructions are available at Scalawags.
